IS THIS A SOUTH AFRICAN OR UNITED KINGDOM QUALIFICATION?
The AAT (SA) qualifications are based on occupational standards that have been registered at and accredited by SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority). The curriculum was originally designed in the UK (by AAT) to meet the practical requirements of the accounting functions in organisations. Due to the relevancy of the course content, it has gained international recognition and is now offered internationally.

HOW MANY SUBJECTS DO I NEED TO COMPLETE IN ORDER TO COMPLETE A QUALIFICATION?
Kindly refer to the various qualification brochures for a breakdown of the learning and assessment areas, as well as the method of assessment (project or computer based assessment). Also bear in mind that you might be able to receive recognition of prior learning (RPL) and current competence, which will enable you to reduce your study period to complete your qualification.

I HAVE ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE. HOW WILL I KNOW AT WHICH LEVEL I SHOULD START?
You can do the on-line "Skills Check Assessment" through us – this will direct you towards the correct entry level (NQF 3, 4 or 5). In our experience, most candidates start at level 3 to ensure that they have a solid understanding and foundation of accounting principles on which to build their future studies.

WILL I GET RECOGNITION FROM A PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING BODY IF I STUDY THE AAT QUALIFICATION(S)?
Yes you will! AAT (SA) is a professional body, and you will be registered as a member of AAT as soon as you enrol for the qualification. As you progress through the qualification and gain more and more experience, you will be able to move through the membership levels – starting with Red and working towards Diamond. Also refer to the AAT professional membership document.

WHERE DO I WRITE EXAMS?
SESTO is an accredited assessment centre; this means that you will be able to write your exams at our training venue.

WILL SESTO PREPARE ME FOR EXAMS?
Yes. Most definitely! SESTO will take you through the outcomes that will be assessed, answer any questions you may have and work through examples of difficult concepts and their applications. AAT qualifications are internationally recognised, and are well known for preparing learners for the workplace – therefore exams rely on your competence to be able to "DO" the work (application of theory), and not just KNOWING (knowledge and understanding of) the theory.
