Financial Management (UASC-FM)

This short course will introduce attendees to the basic financial statements used in a business unit. It will teach them how to interpret an income and expenditure statement and use the information in the statement to make a financial decision. Attendees will also learn how to manage a budget within their organisation.


Candidates who complete this course will be able to:

  • analyse the basic elements of an income and expenditure statement
  • analyse the basic elements of a balance sheet
  • compile a personal assets and liabilities statement
  • use the evidence in financial statements to make a financial decision
  • understand the concept of budgeting pertinent to their own area of responsibility
  • determine the elements of a budget relevant to their own area of responsibility
  • monitor and control actual expenses and revenue, against a projected budget.

The units of the Financial Management Short Course are a subset of SAQA 57712 Further Education and Training Certificate: Generic Management.
